It was no accident that the price went up as well. One woman, a British-born leftist from an aristocratic family, suspected a ruse. She found that funeral directors and undertakers had become adept at advertising and up-selling to the grieved. But a wall of silence around the topic of death protected this booming industry and its methods. In 1963, when Jessica Mitford published her landmark work of investigative journalism, The American Way of Death, all that changed. Jessica Mitford exposed the particular and often dubious ways the funeral industry! When she posed as a grieving relative, many, if not all, mislead her in saying that embalming was mandatory by law (it wasn’t). , The funeral industry, began to get worried, and attempted to defame her based on her communist and radical sympathies, But they failed miserably!!!

I also talk about, The Enviornmental toll the Funeral Industry has on the Environment & The overall Pollution effects it has on our, Mother Earth, In just one year, the amount of casket wood buried is equivalent to about 4 million acres of forest. The amount of wood used in casket making can supply the wood needed to build over 90,000 homes. When you think about the 4 million acres of forest laid into the ground each year, it raises the question: Is there even room to still bury people? Few people realize that most embalming fluid is full of highly-toxic formaldehyde. And they also don’t realize that toxic formaldehyde is leaching into the ground and water at alarming rates. The NFDA’s research has found that about 5.3 million gallons of embalming fluid are used a year. Unfortunately, around 827,000 gallons of that embalming fluid leaks into the soil and waterways.

But while it’s true that cremation is less harmful than pumping a body full of formaldehyde and burying it on top of concrete, there are still environmental effects to consider. Necropsy, ETC
