Kuki tribal groups have called for an indefinite shutdown in the Churachandpur district in India’s Manipur state to protest against the arrest of four murder suspects. Two men and two women belonging to the tribal community have been detained over the murder of two students who belonged to the majority Meitei community. The killings and arrests have once again fuelled tensions in Manipur, which has seen sporadic and deadly ethnic clashes since May.
