Story Summary :-
The narrator is a woman in her early thirties who has just left her job as an accountant to pursue her own business full-time. She never dreamed of being an accountant, but pursued the career to have a fallback plan and eventually got stuck working as one in order to support her husband through law school. Her husband always promised to support her dreams after he was an established lawyer, but once he actually started making money, he just began spending it to
elevate his lifestyle while still expecting his wife to pay for her share of everything. Her parents end up funding the start of her dream company. The business ends up being a huge success and the narrator is able to leave her job as an accountant and focus on it fully, even hiring two employees and moving to a larger workspace. After a product launch party, her husband finally becomes
interested in the company when he realizes how much money is being made. He tries to make changes to it, but the narrator doesn’t allow it. This prompts him to sit her down and demand half of the shares of the company, threatening to divorce her if she denies him. Instead, the narrator takes him up on the threat and goes through with a divorce. The prenup that her parents had her sign before getting married makes it so her husband not only gets nothing but has to pay her back for all the years she spent supporting him.
